When the Team Is Up Against It – Glenn Beck Art Print
About the Artwork
This evocative art print reproduces Glenn Beck’s painting of a vintage football player resting on a bench, set against broad red, white and blue stripes. Inspired by the famous rallying cry “win one for the Gipper”, the image embodies resilience, teamwork and patriotism.
Story & Inspiration
Beck drew inspiration from Notre Dame legend George Gipp’s exhortation to Coach Knute Rockne shortly before his death in the 1920s: “When the team is up against it, when things are wrong, ask them to go in with all they've got and win one for the Gipper.” This became a rallying cry for the Fighting Irish and was later popularized by President Ronald Reagan, who played Gipp in the 1940 film Knute Rockne: All American. Beck invites viewers to remember that when adversity strikes, greatness is achieved by giving everything in honor of those we represent.
